Thinking of Fall

With fall right around the corner I picked up my Sheltering Tree stamp set and put this card together using fall colors.

The background is created with the Woodland folder on some Delightful Dijon card stock and I added a little piece of Corrugated paper and a delicate doily.

The leaves on the tree are stamped with Cajun Craze and Delightful Dijon ink.

Supplies:
Sheltering Tree
Crumb Cake, Delightful Dijon, Cajun Craze, Tip Top Taupe, Wild Wasabi ink
Dapper Denim, Delightful Dijon, Whisper White card stock
Corrugated paper

Paper Pumpkin Alternative

As I was trying to come up with some alternative ideas for the August Paper Pumpkin kit, my eyes came across the envelopes that are included in the kit and I thought, why don't I use one of those on my card...

I stamped some images onto it, added it to the side of the card and then made a piece of card stock to go inside that will be attached to a gift card or money.  I added another piece of the kit to make it easy to pull out.

More stamping and designs on the inside...

There are lots of layers, but it will easily fit inside the A2 size envelope :)

Supplies:
August Paper Pumpkin kit
BYOP, Balloon Celebration
Tip Top Taupe, Cajun Craze, Mint Macaron ink
Mint Macaron, Tip Top Taupe, Cajun Craze card stock

Give Thanks

I have another altered craft store find to share with you today.  I found a 5 pack of these wooden pieces, they are about 8 1/2" x 11" in the clearance section and knew I could find some fun things to do with them. In fact two of my nieces and my daughter made their own versions of this project too!

I started off using the Timeless Textures stamp set and randomly stamping the images in different colors - Soft Suede, Pool Party, Soft Sky, Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand...then I added some denim paint that I had left over from some other projects just kind of brushing it in random spots.

I added some lace trim and burlap ribbon to the bottom and the started with my layers.  There is some Smoky Slate card stock embossed with the Cable Knit folder, Serene Scenery designer series paper and some chicken wire that I cut into about a 6" x 4" piece.

My sentiment is from the Suite Seasons stamp set, a very versatile holiday greeting set in the Holiday catalog.

I also used a couple retired Stampin' Up! items, I always love the little flowers and have many of them left over to play with now and then!

Supplies:
Timeless Textures, Suite Seasons
Soft Suede, Pool Party, Soft Sky, Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand, Dapper Denim, Delightful Dijon ink
Smoky Slate, Dapper Denim, Very Vanilla, Delightful Dijon card stock
Serene Scenery dsp
lace trim
burlap ribbon
in color doilies
Cable knit folder
gold binder clips

August Paper Pumpkin and Alternative

This month's Paper Pumpkin kit is a card kit with three different options, all different sizes.  The first picture shows you what the intended projects should look like...

I did one set of those and am working on some fun alternative projects to share with you.  The first one is this layout I made for my son's SADD conference experience last spring.

I used pieces from all the different cards and the little gift card holder is my spot for hidden journaling.  In the background I used the Playful Backgrounds and You've Got This stamp sets.

My lettering is die cut using the Large Letters and Large Numbers framelits and they are popped up with Stampin' dimensionals.

Don't forget, new subscribers can order a Paper Pumpkin kit and get another one FREE!  Just be sure to shop here before September 10th!

First Day!

Summer vacation is officially over for my kids, today is the first day of school.  Last year I found these arrows at a craft store and altered them with designer series paper and letters/numbers.  You can see that post here...This year, I took the same arrows and altered the other side.

When I put them together last year I added the "grade" and number layers with Velcro so I could remove them and change things and I may do that another year, but I just decided to use different paper and colors this year.  A couple of the "grade" pieces are the same as last year that I just took off the other side.

For Hunter, I used the Halloween night specialty paper in the background (a sneak peek item from the Holiday catalog) because I liked the brick design.  The number on this and the other arrows is die cut using the Large Numbers framelits.

For Wyatt, I chose the apples from the Fruit stand collection of designer series paper and his letters are cut from the Large Letters framelits, this is the one that is different from last year because on the other side of this arrow I had used Very Vanilla instead of Whisper White card stock.

There is a little bit of burlap ribbon where I had a seam of designer series paper since the arrows are longer than 12 inches.

Lastly, Maddie's is done with Blooms and Bliss designer series paper and some ruched ribbon.

I will probably share some photos with the kids holding these another day but thought I would share the concept now.

Supplies:
Blooms and Bliss, Halloween Nigh specialty, Fruit Stand designer series paper
Large Numbers and Large Letters framelits
Circles framelits
2 1/2" circle punch
Typeset Alphabet Bigz dies
Mod Podge
Whisper White, Mint Macaron, Basic Black, Emerald Envy, Tip Top Taupe, Pool Party card stock
5/8" Sweet Sugarplum ruched ribbon
burlap ribbon
Wooden arrows

To You

Today's card uses colors I don't pick out of my stash all that often lately.  I know that once I work on Christmas projects the Cherry Cobbler will be a common color for me to grab, but right now it is kind of in the back of the box.  Delightful Dijon is another one I don't grab for often, but I like the two colors together and thought I would create a card with them.

The Perfectly Wrapped stamp set was used on the card base as well as the circle and sentiment.  I also added a die cut from the Sunshine Wishes collection and some burlap ribbon (I just love that stuff even though it leaves burlap lint everywhere!).

Supplies:
Perfectly Wrapped
Delightful Dijon, Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler ink
Whisper White, Basic Black, Delightful Dijon, Cherry Cobbler card stock
circle punches
Sunshine Wishes thinlits
Serene Scenery dsp
burlap ribbon

Cable Knit Thank You

One of the new embossing folders in the Holiday catalog is a little different than the ones we have been using.  It is thicker and only requires one of the clear plates when you run it through the Big Shot.  The impression it leaves is deeper and really shows up on the card below.

I paired it with the Thoughtful Branches stamp set and some By the Shore designer series paper for a thank you card that really pops.

Supplies:
Thoughtful Branches
Old Olive, Soft Suede ink
Very Vanilla, Soft Suede, Pool Party card stock
lace trim
cable knit folder

The Light the Shepherds Saw...

Today's card is another sneak peek from the Holiday catalog and I have used some non traditional Christmas colors on it showcasing the Starlight Thinlits Dies and Star of Light stamp set.

I chose Mint Macaron, Bermuda Bay and Pool Party for my star die cuts and added them on top of a delicate doily.

I added some images in the background on my Bermuda Bay layer using the same color of ink.

Supplies:
Star of Light
Bermuda Bay ink
Soft Suede, Bermuda Bay, Mint Macaron, Pool Party card stock
delicate doily
Candy Cane lane baker's twine
Starlight thinlits dies

Happy Retirement

Happy Friday!  I thought I would share a retirement card I made recently using the Mixed Drinks stamp set today.  It is really not too complicated but more fun than the picture looks!  Why?  Because you can't really see that the beverage and foam are shimmery from the Wink of Stella glitter brush.

I added some By the Shore designer series paper and used sentiment from both Mixed Drinks and Wild about Flowers.

Supplies:
Wild about Flowers, Mixed Drinks
Basic Black, Dapper Denim, So Saffron, ink
Smoky Slate, Very Vanilla card stock
By the Shore designer series paper
Wink of Stella glitter brush

New Permit

I have another sneak peek item for you today in the layout below.  I used a piece of the Halloween Night specialty designer series paper as my page base - there are several designs that do not have to be used for Halloween as you can see...

I added some images from Playful Backgrounds behind my layers with Old Olive ink and then added some patterns from the Serene Scenery designer series paper pack before adding my picture.

The little arrows were stamped using a retired Project Life stamp set and I added some epoxy stars leftover from a Paper Pumpkin kit.

My title comes from the Perfectly Wrapped stamp set and I used some circle punches for part of it as well.

The white threads are thick baker's twine that was taken apart.

Supplies:
Playful Backgrounds, Perfectly Wrapped
Old Olive, Delightful Dijon ink
Basic Black, Whisper White, card stock
Halloween Night specialty designer series paper
Serene Scenery designer series paper
thick bakers twine
circle punches

Thank You

This month, Stampin' Up! is offering a while supplies last bundle (you can purchase the items separately too) called Thankful Branches.  My favorite thing about the stamp set is the font and there is a good variety of sayings as well.

I chose to use some of the tree images along with the "Thank you" and layered them on top of some Presents and Pinecones designer series paper, Kraft rope trim that I pulled apart and some thick bakers twine that I also pulled apart.

The designer series paper and Kraft rope trim are from the Holiday catalog that will be available to purchase from on September 1st.

Supplies:
Thoughtful Branches
Early Espresso, Garden Green ink
Whisper White, Early Espresso, Mint Macaron card stock
delicate doilies
Presents and Pinecones dsp
Kraft rope trim
thick baker's twine

Under the Weather

One last July 2016 Paper Pumpkin alternative project before we have the August kit arrive...This time I paired the kit pieces with the Ronald McDonald house stamp set called My Hero.

I used part of one of the boxes that looks like it has gold raindrops on it as my background behind the umbrella that was stamped and cut out.

I do not have the Umbrella Weather framelits so I just cut out the pieces with my paper snips.  The box from the Paper Pumpkin kit is just cut out on a couple of the score lines and I cut the tabs off.

Supplies:
My Hero
Sweet Sugarplum, Emerald Envy, Basic Black ink
Emerald Envy, Whisper White card stock
Festive folder
July 2016 Paper Pumpkin
Delicate doily
