First Day Arrows

Yesterday was the first day of school for my kids.  There was some grumbling about going back, but truthfully I think they were ready.

I found some wooden arrows while shopping at Target the week before and decided to make some fun signs for the first day pictures.

Each one has designer series paper that is attached with mod podge.  Since the arrows were more than 12", there is a splice in the paper where the straight part meets the triangle of the arrow.  To cover it up, I used ribbon...

The "Grade" and number are attached to the arrow with Velcro so that I can either use them another year and change the numbers or just decorate them completely different and use them for something else...

My letters were cut out with the Big Shot using the retired Typeset Alphabet Bigz dies.

The numbers are placed on 2" circles and that piece is added to a 2 1/2" circle.

Although it is difficult to see, I have found a tip for anyone who is using the Fine-tip glue pen that will be found in the Holiday catalog.  Don't use it for ribbon or it will show through...Now, I can't say that I don't like the glue - it is great for sequins and other embellishments, but just not ribbon (although it may possibly work well for the thicker ribbons, I haven't tried those).

Happiness

I love the color combination in the Bohemian Designer Series paper although I am not a fan of all the patterns.  With different patterns on each side it works well though so I can just use the ones I like the best!

I chose to use the same color combination with the inks I used one this card and instead of punching the frosting out with the Tree builder punch (only since I didn't have it yet!), I cut it with the paper snips.

Supplies:
Sprinkles of Life
Bermuda Bay, Delightful Dijon, Blackberry Bliss, Island Indigo ink
Very Vanilla, Blackberry Bliss, Bermuda Bay card stock
Banner triple punch
designer buttons

June Stamp Club Projects

For this month's stamp club projects I chose to use mostly new catalog items with the exception of some of the card stocks and the Summer Silhouettes stamp set which is used on the layout.

For the designer series paper I chose the Bohemian collection and used colors that coordinated with that including Blackberry Bliss, Delightful Dijon, Very Vanilla, Island Indigo and Bermuda Bay.

I stayed with the Bohemian theme for the first card using Boho Chic as the textured impressions folder on the Mint Macaron background.

And the final card uses what is now one of my favorite stamp sets in the catalog (although that will change many times throughout the year!) - You've Got This.

Supplies:
You've Got This, I Think You're Great, Summer Silhouettes
Delightful Dijon, Bermuda Bay, Mint Macaron, Pink Pirouette, Watermelon Wonder, Tip Top Taupe and Cucumber Crush ink and markers
Blackberry Bliss, Delightful Dijon, Very Vanilla, Island Indigo, Bermuda Bay, Mint Macaron, Watermelon Wonder, Tip Top Taupe card stock
1 3/4", 2" circle punch
Cherry on Top, Bohemian dsp
Boho Chic impressions folder
Tip Top Taupe 1" dotted lace trim
Note tag punch
