Some challenges

VC Rocks (Virtual Convention) opened again a short time ago and we have been doing some challenges.  I thought I would share a couple that I have done recently.

This was part of a circles challenge, the first part being a card, the second part a scrapbook page.  This layout is done in My Digital Studio and actually won the scrapbook part of the challenge!!

We had some preview challenges for returning members and these cards were part of that.  On different days, we had to stamp or alter paper or emboss, etc. and then near the end of the preview challenges, were were supposed to put different challenges together into a card.  Some of mine didn't look so great together, LOL!
The top card uses watercolor crayons over an embossed image and the card below has lots of Vanilla Shimmer smooch.

Teacher appreciation

School ended last week and these are some of the gifts I gave Maddie's preschool teachers.  There are 5 assorted cards in the clear box and I added a belly band and her picture, a butterfly and stamped thank you.

The belly band is made with Lap of Luxury DSP and the matting on the photos are Peach Parfait.  I cut butterflies out with the Beautiful wings embosslit and the stamped images are from the Just Believe stamp set.

Fun Technique

I used the same techniqe on this card as I did here only with different colors and I didn't use a brayer, only sponges.  This time the base is Very Vanilla and I sponged Bashful Blue and Night of Navy on the card stock.

A close up of the effect of the water...

Hunter

Another challenge page I did for Soul Scrappers, this one being a color challenge using Basic Black, Rose Red, Old Olive and Crumb Cake.

I love being able to make the ribbon wider when I use it in a layout with My Digital Studio, it is really fun to play around with!

Motorcyle birthday

I made this quick card for Mary Jo's sketch challenge this week.  The distressed paper is Whisper White card stock that I brayered with Daffodil Delight so that it looked uneven.  Then I went in from the edges toward the middle (but not all the way) with Peach Parfait.  Next, I used a sponge and added Chocolate Chip to the edges.  The final step was to add a little water to the paper.
While searching through ideas this week, I came across a technique where you use a foam applicator to apply the ink and I adjusted it to a brayer and sponges since I didn't have a foam applicator.  Apparently I didn't save the link, but will keep looking and update when I find it!

The water drops give it a neat effect.

Supplies:
Motorcycle, Happy for You stamp sets
Chocolate Chip, Whisper White card stock
Chocolate Chip, Daffodil Delight, Peach Parfait classic ink
dimensionals
Perfect Polka dots impressions folder
brayer
sponges

Some swap cards

I thought I would share some cards I received in some UStamp with Dawn and Friends Swap around the world events.  These are from 2 other designers, the first from Tanya Bell
and the second from Rebecca Ingals Fleet. Aren't they great?

Thanks for Caring

I really hope that Nature Walk carries over into the new Idea Book and Catalog, it has become one of my favorite sets.

I used a clear block inked with Crumb Cake for this background and Cherry Cobbler and Always Artichoke for the flowers and sentiment.

There is a small piece of the Botanical Gazette designer paper on the side with a torn edge along with the layer of Cherry Cobbler card stock.

I cut the bottom off the Victoria crochet trim ribbon before I stuck it down with some sticky strip and added an Antique Brad.

I am happy to share this project that I created for UStamp with Dawn and Friends Classes Clubs and Camps, I really love the way it turned out.

Although very time consuming, this project was fun to design and put together for UStamp with Dawn and Friends Classes, Clubs and Camps

It is a 20 page 12 x 12 album with a matching card using lots of different coordinating products.  After I got started, I decided to make it into a gift for my dad's birthday using lots of pictures of the grandkids.

A closer look at the card...

A couple of the pages - too many to show you all of them!

VC Rocks Blog Hop

It's the first VC Rocks blog hop of the year!  You may have come from Deborah Robb's blog and at any time you may go to the VC Rocks blog to see the full list of participants.

We are using the theme, Color My World, and I have chosen to use watercolor crayons
and markers in my projects.
My first project is a card using watercolor crayons.  I stamped my image on watercolor paper with Black Stazon ink and then colored in the flower and leaves with Not Quite Navy and Old Olive crayons.  I blended the colors in with my aqua painter and then added some Perfect Plum to the flower and used the aqua painter again.

After I had everything on the card, I spritzed a mixture of rubbing alcohol and Champagne mist shimmer paint over it all.  I always have a hard time getting that to show up in the photos.

Supplies:
Because I care, Just Believe stamp sets
Framed Tulips impressions folder
Old Olive, Night of Navy, Very Vanilla and Watercolor paper
hemp twine
Black stazon ink
watercolor crayons
aqua painter
dimensionals
basic pearls
word window punch
modern label punch
champagne shimmer paint

My next project was a super quick and easy one that would work well as a little gift too.
I picked up a frame at Target with 2 - 4 x 6" openings and just added some simple panels.

The left side is a Certainly Celery base that I ran through the Vintage Wallpaper impressions folder and on top of that I added some Whisper White card stock that I embossed with the Flower Garden impressions folder.  There are a couple butterflies cut out with the Beautiful Wings embosslit on it as well attached with glue dots.

The right side has a So Saffron base that was also embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper impressions folder.  I used my markers to add some flowers to the Whisper White layer using the Love and Care hostess level 2 stamp set in the Summer Mini catalog.  The sentiment is from the Refuge and Strength stamp set and I punched it out with the scallop oval punch and popped it up with dimensionals.

Supplies:
Refuge and Stregth, Love and Care stamp sets
Flower Garden, Vintage Wallpaper impressions folders
Beautiful Wings embosslit
Big Shot
So Saffron, Certainly Celery, Whisper White, Baja Breeze, Peach Parfait, Regal Rose, Pink Pirouette card stocks
Baja Breeze, Certainly Celery, Pretty in Pink markers
Baja Breeze classic ink
scallop oval punch
dimensionals

And now for some blog candy!  If you leave a comment, I will put your name into a drawing for this stamp set...

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed the projects!  Your next stop to Color Your World is at Ellen Kemper's blog - enjoy!

Elegant lines and fabric

This is Mary Jo's sketch for the week...

I used some of the Springtime Vintage Fabric that I spritzed with Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz layered on some So Saffron paper that was run through the Elegant Lines impressions folder.

The sentiment is stamped on a piece that was cut from the Petal Cone die and the base of the card is Baja Breeze.  I was experimenting with some outside photos and this doesn't show the colors as well as I had hoped it would.  I think I will stick to my inside lighting system :)

Quilted Top Note cards and holder

Beth Fesperman designed this fun project for UStamp with Dawn and Friends Classes, Clubs and Camps and I changed colors, papers, etc. and CASED it.

I used the Level 1 hostess paper pack for these fun cards and thought they would make a nice little gift for a teacher or friend.

I also used the stamp set Just Belive for the sentiments.
